Water for Roses
01:55
|
|||
cleanse the wound that makes me tearful
and it soothes a song that i can no longer whisper
with these soft and melancholic spirits
that join me in my bedroom, and wrap me in linen
the rose water stings my cuts
run deeper than an ocean's gulf
they hold me while they leave
and my hand can barely reach
i'm water for roses, i'm water for roses
narcotic and hazy, what am i feeling?
these salt water waves, these salt water waves
they bring forth another day
here comes another day

Spring in Eden
03:02
|
|||
there's my sanctum, not far from the water
where animals wander my front garden
and i know each and every bird my name
cus they sing lullabies before they go to sleep
here between the low palms and hibiscus
it's a home under rocks for salt water roses
and i fear i don't know just what life is
i'm just swimming about with the koi fish
in the arms of Eden, arms of Eden
in the arms of Eden, arms of Eden
even if it's only
temporary pain relief

Butterflies
02:34
|
|||
a salt water rose
in bloom on the cusp of life
with the swimming koi
you comb my hair while i am bathing, koi
cus i can't ever get over these butterflies
they hurt, i swear, i felt them all my life
and you say to me they'll get better over time
but i'll admit i cannot face the world sober, koi
one day i hope to look you in the eye
and pick apart, not the lows, but all the highs
i want to get there someday, i'm willing to try
will this ache simmer down with it that day?
and for butterflies to return into the night
this strive reminded me of a poet's word
''what did my arms do before they held you?''

Night by the Vineyard
02:39
|
|||
my monarchs in the vineyard
resting by the waters in the dark
they feel the earth, they speak my tongue
they pour my wine, in hymns we hum
swaying back and forth with the wind
hoping that i’ll glimmer when they sing
it’s a dying art to be in love with the sea
oh the waves will bring you down to your knees
set my riviera on fire, burning when i’m longing
for the water and the rainfall in my spring
spirits gather roses and leave them out for me
in the morning when i wake up feeling
feeling
every bit of hope they gifted me
